2000s Bollywood has an unique mixture of- "How cute🥺" "this is so cool!😍" "wtf is going on here. 😨" The most unique statement to describe Bollywood's reaction to feminism, women's rights and consent is "Humko nahi malum. 🙄" A glaring example of this is *Jaani Dushman* - the equivalent of a cursed comment (we could have lived without its existence). Another two examples that forms the core of my article (read: rant) are Namastay London and it's Bengali remake Poran Jai Jaliya Re. These films are mainstream successes with a major flaw which leads to problematic endings.
As a child I loved watching the Hindi version. As an adult woman however I can no longer unsee that the real villain of these romantic movies was never the spoiled brat heroine {Spoiler alert! Although I highly doubt anyone will need it at this point. It's been a decade after all😅}
